drawing from observation is what it is you draw what you see. some artists who ''draw'' from observation are Vangogh
or William Turner.
although both artist didn't quite draw exactly what they saw.

to see exactly what they saw you would need to take a photograph and even that can be over exposed. so all we can do is look at what they observed and what they drew. Turner's works are beautiful and express drama and the power of nature. And Vangogh's drawings have a ruff edge but still feel real like the place he drew was alive and moving all the time.
in my own drawings from obviation i also have drawn what i could see but iv changed what was there to ad some drama. all the dark things in the drawings are there because the theme is of horror. fear of the unknown of what's unseen. things that go bump in the knight or the horrors that wait in the dark. fear of the dark is a fear of what's unknown you cannot see what's around you so you have no information on your surroundings so you become scared. the fear is a natural response to keep you alive in a time of unknowing or if something new is happening. this is also a fear of change we cannot know what will happen so you become scared. What will the outcome be good or bad.
