Banksy uses stencils and spray paint to get his ideas seen and hopefully understood and not just passed of as mindless graff. his work with the rats is a good example of this. there is a piece that has a rat that's painted on a wall and in red letters 'It's not a race'. this is a reflection on the saying rat race. and how its not a fair race as we don't all start on the same line or finish at the same place. but that we are all different and some have advantages over others like money or family. so its not a race at all it just feels like one because every thing is moving so fast these days and we are all running around like rats in a maze. maybe its saying we should all slow down abit and help each other more instead of claiming over one another to get to the top.
M.C.Escher used maths and geometry to create his art some say its more maths then art but its still has something to say to us. In snakes his final piece before he died. we can see a big circle full of interlinking circle and three snakes linking around as well. its a very complicated piece and as his final one its meaning to me is life. how we are all interconnected from the big to the small we are all on the same sphere tring to get along avoiding the snakes climbing the ladders. you could get lost in this picture as you follow round all the rings. it means unity as well like the unbreakable bonds that we can form in life. also a more cosmic infinity like we go round and round in full circle. making the same mistakes. snakes is a wood cut print made in 1969. Snakes has rotational symmetry of order 3 so a single wedge-shaped image was repeated three times in a circle. This means that it was printed from three blocks which were rotated on a pin to make three impressions each. Close inspection reveals the central mark left by the pin. The image is printed in three colours: green, brown and black.
